I Love My Office

I worked very briefly in an office setting as a travel agent, but apparently not enough to get the humor of shows like The Office.  Most of my time has been spent in a classroom, either as a student or a teacher.

Now that I’m doing more writing, my office is wherever my laptop can go.  Sometimes it’s on my comfy couch, with a cat snuggled on my lap.  Yesterday it was on the back deck, watching my kids play in the sandbox.  Today, it’s with a good friend at Tim Horton’s.

Some of the writing I do is paid, and some is just for me, with the dream of someday holding a book in my hands with my name on the cover.  I’d say it’s also to read it to my kids, but they already love listening to my stories. Whether or not Mommy is published isn’t an issue. Smile

So whatever it is that you do, take a few moments to yourself, find a place to sit and do what you love.  Just be ready when the kids, or the pets, or the husband need something!

  1. I'd like you to get out of my head please....remember when I told you today that I downloaded some picture for future use? Your coffee cup was one of them...picking right up from the matching notebooks and folders huh? :)

  3. So true, we have to be able to jump in and out of our roles without warning. Once minute we are creative geniuses :) writing away, and the next we are tending to some small person's snack requirements. It just makes us more versatile I guess.

  4. Thank you for the gentle reminder that writing is as much for me as my readers. Sometimes we bloggers forget that.

  5. Okay that can be our logo...:) And I agree Catherine about the small person snack requirements but in my case they are 4 footed....and furry. :)

  6. I'm a freelance writer, too... and I had to chuckle at the "pets" mention... as our dear li'l fur daughter kitty stands at my chair begging for lunch. She reaches up and taps my arm when she's hungry. :-)
